Key Prezi Points

Saw:
saw is known for its great plot twists many of which you would never expect or see coming possibly down to the fact that the situations are so extreme you have no idea how the characters will react
originality as before saw America was used to slasher psycho horrors such as jason and freddie  saw in its own right was a new breed of horror film
the portrayal of jigsaw as a monster because of his morals and ethics regarding life and how it should be treated

Scream:
the story line is believable as one psycho reeks havoc in a small town where everyone is suspicious of everyone else
for 1996 the use of gore is pretty great compared to other movies of this age
scream was such a good slasher horror due to the use and build up of tension

28 days later:
the special effects in 28 days later was extraordinary with every zombie every piece of gore and every injury looking so realistic
well edited the shots and transitions used led to a cinema masterpiece
although its a sort of sci fi it has aspects of realism with the charachters reactions to the situation being believable

An independent film with a young protagonist done via the medium of jelly babies

In my opinion the independent film was the hardest to do as me and Luis had little experience with independent films and were not aware of what they normally include. The easiest part was probably taking the photos because for the independent film me and Luis found it very hard to come up with a story line but for the thriller we found this very easy.

Thriller with jelly babies

We created five scenes to represent a scary ghost thriller using Jellybabies as characters and whatever resources we had in the class.Me and Luis found the ghost thriller very easy as it was a genre we were very familiar with, so this made camera shots and creating a story line very easy.

Horror Actors,Directors and Music

Directors:
James wan (saw, insidious and the conjuring)
Tobe Hooper (texas chainsaw massacre)
Wes Craven (The Hills have eyes and Scream)

Actors:
Clint Howard (House of the dead and Halloween 2007)
Pete Postlethwaite (Alien 3 and Dark water )
Robert Picardo (Gremlins 2 new batch)
Danny Trejo (Halloween and Planet terror)

Music:
In horror you can pretty much have any music you want but for the actual scary parts it needs to be tense , fast paced and scary.Through music you can make the audience feel scared and nervous as your choice of music will affect the atmosphere.

Production Techniques used in Horror

There is a range of techniques used in the horror industry that are designed to scare the audience.

What scares us
Horror films often pick very common fears to use, they use things that scare us like spiders, the supernatural and feeling powerless.By choosing such a generic fear it will apply to almost all audiences.

Atmosphere
Atmosphere plays a big part in horror films and are key to a decent film.To create a good horror film it cant just be jump scares there needs to be a good build up to jump scares and a greater variation in scary features such as quick glimpses of the fear(whatever scary thing it is in the film),flashbacks, gore and foreshadowing.

Suspense
Atmosphere differs from suspense as atmosphere is tonal and visual whereas suspense is the unnerving feeling something bad is going to happen. Suspense is normally built up using darkness, dramatic shadows, glimpsing something moving in the background and not being able to see what it is and The Dark Voyeur ( a framing shot used to make it look like a character is being watched or haunted etc.)

Writing
A good horror film needs to be well written. From my experience I believe that the best horror films are character driven rather than plot driven although a good combination of both can also lead to a good film. For a horror film you don't just put in the gore and scary features it all needs to be linked in to a well written and intricate plot.

Effects
To create a good horror film you don't need lots( if any) special effects.A key part of horror is the music and the sound effects as they are key to the build up of tension and atmosphere.

Horror Genre

Horror
The horror genre is a type of film that induces fear into the audience typically via the use of tension and gore. Horror can go into many sub genres such as: comedy-horror, thriller-horror, gothic horror, slasher horror, supernatural horror, first person (filmed by the character like the "Blair witch project").

The target audience is usually for people over the age of 18 as that is the normal rating for most horrors with the exception of a few 16 rated films.

Health and Safety Assessment

Health and Safety Assessment
Preliminary task

During filming there are many small things that could happen and lead to greater problems such as slips trips and falls, these can occur when you try to film in improper conditions and rush the actor/cameraman. To avoid any injuries we took precautions like making sure we had plenty of time to film and edit the preliminary task so we were in no hurry and didn't have to take any risks or shortcuts this also meant we got a better end result as the actors had very little pressure and when it came to editing we had plenty of time to see what worked and put it together nice and smoothly.

When filming we didn't just have to worry about the actors getting injured we had to make sure the cameraman was not hurt as she had to focus mainly on the camera and the actors, to prevent her from injury we filmed on carpet to reduce the chance of her slipping on something wet and gave her plenty of room during shots so she didn't walk, get hit by doors trip etc.

As we filmed in school we are covered by public liability insurance as the school is a council building. We went to the location we were going to film at to look for any health and safety problems prior to filming .The only health and safety concern we encountered was that the room was messy and that people could easily trip so before filming we had a quick clean up.

Logo Background info

To create my company logo I had to take many features into account such as symbols, colours, words, fonts, shapes, creativity, clarity and boldness. A good combination of all of these would lead to a good company logo although mine may not be the best logo in the world I have tried my best to include all of these features of a good logo.

For a good logo you need to have symbols or some form of symbolism for this I have used the the the darkness beneath the diver to symbolise the unknown, with the diver going from light to dark it shows him going from the familiar to the unknown.

Colours are not a necessity in your logo although they help to put across a message and help your logo look better in my logo the dark blues and blacks represent the deep and unknown lying in the depths and the lighter blues symbolise the diver leaving the safe and familiar brightness as he descends into the unknown.

Pretty much every brand is going to need words wether its in the name or the slogan. I chose the name "beneath the reef  productions" as I felt it had a nice ring to it and it fit in really well with my first logo idea of sharks as sharks represent and symbolise power and fear.

For my logo I felt that the font was really important as it puts across a certain message to the audience and helps to define my logo I would like for my brand to be recognised just by the font or for people to see a similar  font and think of " beneath the reef productions "

Shapes aren't a big thing in my logo as they didn't really fit in with the design I was going for but if I was going to include shapes I would have used interlinked circles to represent strength and unity .

For my logo I had to be creative and find the right combination of words and images to really sell it to the audience after a few attempts such as "under the waves productions" and "into the abyss productions" i settled with "beneath the reef productions" as I felt that it was the best of the three.

In conclusion to accomplish my aims in creating a good logo I have done my best you use all of the features that when combined properly to create a good logo.I feel that the combination of colours and the uncommon font will help make my logo stand out from the rest and be memorable to the audience .
